Recap

Let’s review where we are at this point in the story

  • Israel are chosen as YHVH’s people
  • HE brings them out of the bondage of slavery in Egypt
  • There is a betrothal of HIS people at Mount Sinai, where they agree to the ketuba (marriage contract)
  • HE takes HIS betrothed bride home to the land where HE puts HIS name (Israel)
  • Israel is now HIS bride
  • The Nation of Israel splits into two kingdoms
  • Both Kingdoms commit spiritual adultery
  • YHVH divorces the Northern kingdom of Israel
  • The Northern kingdom is taken into captivity and scattered through the nations

At this point, there seems to be no hope for the House of Israel.  They have been cut off from YHVH and have been scattered away from their land, their inheritance.  They have no more ties to YHVH.  Actually, they hadn’t had any relationship with HIM for nearly two hundred years.  They had been given many chances and many warnings to return, to teshuva back to their GOD.  They did not listen.  YHVH sent many prophets to them to plead with them to turn their backs to the idols and gods they had made for themselves.

As a people, the House of Israel are no longer HIS.  They have lost their identity.  At this point, if they wanted a relationship with YHVH, they would need to be “grafted in” to the House of Judah.  They would need to take on the identity of Judah to be in covenant with YHVH.  Because they are cut off, they can no longer do anything to become one of HIS set apart people.  This is setting the stage for true favor (grace) for us all.  We will see that in the upcoming articles.

The marriage covenant has been annulled.  YHVH is no longer bound to the terms of the covenant given on Mount Sinai as it relates to the House of Israel.  They are cut off, with no way to return to HIM with their identity.

Possible Conflicts

I have to put out this warning.  From here on out, I will be addressing some topics that might be seen as controversial or, in some people’s eyes, completely contrived and non-biblical.  I will implore everyone who thinks this to not only read the verses I have provided and those that I will provide, but also look at the context of those verses.  I say this because the concepts I am going to talk about are not even discussed in most theological circles.

I do not purport to know everything and I may be completely wrong on this.  I am willing to change my mind, if given enough evidence to counter these ideas.  I am always open to change.

These concepts are the foundation of the faith, as I see it.  They ARE the reason for the entire bible.  The bible is an entire story of YHVH selecting HIS bride, HIS betrothal to HIS bride, HIS marriage, the bride’s spiritual adultery, and HIS final spiritual divorce from her.  We will now start to look at the reconciliation of that spiritual bride.  Paul talks about this:

2Corinthians 5:18  Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself….

YHVH has a plan.  HIS way is perfect!  Once you start to see how HIS plan has fallen into place, you will be in awe.

The Good Stuff!

What about Jesus (Yeshua)?  Let’s look at that next.  We will see His true purpose for coming and why His death and resurrection were so vitally important to our relationship with YHVH.

We are about to conclude this incredible journey.  I hope your eyes are opened, like mine, when you start to see HIS perfect plan unfold through the Gospels and the writings of Paul.  Let’s finish the greatest story from the greatest book ever written.
